Bio
Dr Chandran is currently a senior consultant Dermatologist and the Head of the Division of Dermatology at the National University Hospital. She completed her Basic Specialist Training in Internal Medicine. She went on to Advanced Specialist Training in Dermatology at the National Skin Centre which culminated in her being awarded the Best Candidate in the Dermatology Exit Examination by the Chapter of Dermatologists, College of Physicians, Singapore.

Dr Chandran was awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of Health to pursue fellowships in paediatric dermatology at the Erasmus MC-Sophia Children's Hospital, University Medical Centre, Rotterdam and in immunodermatology at the Centre for Blistering Diseases, University Medical Centre, Groningen. These have honed her subspecialty interests which include paediatric dermatology, autoimmune and genetic blistering skin diseases (such as epidermolysis bullosa), collagen vascular diseases involving the skin, severe inflammatory skin diseases and medical dermatology.

Dr Chandran is passionate about educating the next generation of healthcare providers. As a member of the Dermatology Residents Advisory Committee and Associate Programme Director of the Post-Graduate Year 1 Residency for the Department of Medicine, NUHS, she is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education. She has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and dermatology textbooks.

Abstract
This lecture will bring the audience through the advances and developments in Dermatology in the past year. In particular, the importance of understanding Dermatological diseases in the context of Internal Medicine will be highlighted.
