Bio
Dr Effie Chew is a Senior Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine and heads the services at NUH, AH and NTFGH.

She obtained her MBBS from the University of Melbourne, Australia, and subsequently, obtained her Rehabilitation Medicine specialist accreditation in Singapore and went on to complete a Fellowship in Clinical Neurorehabilitation at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, Harvard Medical School where she developed her research interests in robotics and noninvasive brain stimulation and neuromodulation. While developing the range of clinical rehabilitation services offered at NUHS, she continues research into noninvasive brain stimulation for post-stroke motor recovery, brain computer-assisted motor imagery, and piloted a multicentre robot-assisted rehabilitation programme in the community.

Abstract
This wide-ranging review will cover various fields within rehabilitation medicine.

We will first review the functional outcomes of COVID-19 survivors and recommendations for cardiopulmonary rehabilitation as well as rehabilitation of cognitive and psychological sequelae.

We move on to explore advances in stroke rehabilitation with updates on timing of initiation of post-stroke rehabilitation, dosing, and pharmacological enhancement of recovery.

Updates in neurostimulation will cover brain stimulation for various impairments in stroke, and spinal cord stimulation for recovery of walking ability post-spinal cord injury.

Updates on rehabilitation technology will cover latest recommendations on robot-assisted neurorehabilitation and telerehabilitation, advances in brain-computer interface, from detecting consciousness to decoding speech and augmenting neurofeedback to enhance recovery.
