Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are revolutionising nearly every aspect of healthcare. From data management to drug discovery and development to clinical practice and patient care, the innovations of AI continue to optimise and advance medical services.

Significant barriers to the use and deployment of AI technologies lie in addressing foundational factors such as data curation, validation of machine learning models and deployment environments. Furthermore, the ethics of AI use, and clinician adoption continue to be important factors when deploying AI tools in clinical practice.
