Charlton Ong, Vice President, People & Culture and Singapore, is accountable for human capital development for Group Enterprise, the enterprise arm of Singtel Group. Concurrently, he is the country HR lead for Singapore since 2012.

Prior to that, he was Vice President of HR for Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, Asia Pacific region. Over the last 30 years in HR, he has also worked for British Telecom and Honeywell, among others MNCs. During his time with Honeywell, he was primarily based in Shanghai where the Asia Pacific HQ was located.

Charlton has always been a strong advocate for labour-management relationship. He believes in open and consultative approach and engages the union proactively for views and inputs on any people initiatives, and keeps his opinions open on their suggestions to improve staff welfare. In recognition of his contribution to the labour movement, he was conferred a May Day Award in 2017.

In 2019 and 2021, Charlton was IHRP-SP and IHRP-MP certified respectively. He was a senior assessor of IHRP certification papers, as well as member in the IHRP Engagement & Outreach Committee, Assessment & Insights Committee, Body of Competencies Refresh Project Committee and Business and Financial Acumen CoP Taskforce. Last year, he was part of the IHRP-MOM-WSHC project to deep-dive into Mental Wellbeing at Workplaces. Most recently, he was involved in the review of the new preparatory workbooks for Papers B, C and N.

Charlton graduated with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from the University of San Francisco and holds a MBA from the University of Queensland. He was a key member of the ICT Sector Committee, TechSkills Accelerator (TeSA), IMDA between 2016-2021.
